Pace of Play Tip of the Day from Dave
30 seconds per hole. If one player squanders 30 seconds per hole, which isn’t hard to do, that’s nine minutes per round. Multiple that by 4 players! The reality is the difference between playing in 4 and 4.5 hours isn't as great as some might believe.

Card for Sue Parker
Sue needed to drop out of the Women's Day group due to a health issue.  She will be missed.

Special On Course Refreshments.
Diane Auler and Pam Pound worked with September Liller to provide adult beverages at the comfort station: s’more and caramel pudding shots along with vodka lemonade. This was done as a fun treat and to celebrate end of July birthdays by Beth and Diane..

Event Updates:
  • Match Play- Date for the Championship Match between Ruth Rosenow/Joanne Orr and Kathy Kaufman/Molly Abrohams will be announced as soon as the date is set so we can follow the action and or celebrate at the conclusion.

Women's Day 7-27: Results
After evening storms and morning rain we actually were able to play with carts  The Executive course event was well received and allowed us to finish the round before the second wave of rain came in.  Good times were had by all.

Pace of Play Tip of the Day from Dave
Be efficient on the putting green. Mark your ball and lift and clean it when you arrive
at the putting green so you will be ready to replace it when it is your turn to play. You can usually line up your putt while others are putting, without disturbing them. Leave your clubs on the side of the putting green closest to the next tee, and leave the green promptly after holing out. Wait until the next tee to record your score.

New Events

A second goal is the create some new events and excitement about Women’s Day and the many other formal and informal opportunities for women to enjoy golf.
  1. The Ringer:

Look for the Ringer results in the women’s locker room. Dave and staff will be updating this regularly now that we have more scores to work with.
The Ringer is a season-long game that celebrates each person's best golf performance.  Imagine taking that net eagle you score on hole 16 one week and adding it to a net eagle you score on hole 4 the following week!  In this game, your best net score on each hole during the ladies league season is added together for one awesome final score at the end of August!   We will pay 4 prizes in the game: 1st, 2nd, 20th and 21st.  You don't need to play every week to qualify.  Just play... And know that all your best holes each season will count... At least all the ones you play on ladies day! Dates:  June 1st - August 31st
  1. Executive Course (July 27th)

The intent of this event is to play a shortened course, 150 yards. Dave and his staff will arrange the course in a creative way.  This is similar to the “birdie fest” played by the men. This is still in the planning stages so please give your input to anyone on the Women’s Day Golf Committee.
  1. Flighted events

The June 29th flighted “Ace of the Day” event seemed to be well received. We have a second flighted event on August 17th, Select Drive 2 Best of 4

  1. Calling All MCC Women Golfers
On June 7th we held a new event, “Calling All MCC Women Golfers.”  Our hope was to create a golf related social event that would be of interest to our Women’s Day members and all other MCC women golfers. Because of the success of that event and the positive feedback we have added a second “Calling All MCC Women Golfers” event.  It will be held on August 30th following a similar format. We will start with an on Course rules clinic at 4:00 and then enjoy wine, appetizers and shopping. Please SAVE the DATE!

Financial Report

  1. MCC Ladies League Financial Report as of June 2016 Thanks to Pam Pound for her work on the budget and financial reporting.
  2. NOTE: When we set up the budget for 2017, we need to adjust budgeting based on whether the game is an individual, 2-person team, or 4-person team event.  Dave has stayed within our budget guidelines and adjusted appropriately for the individual events held so far this year.  One day was rained out, saving us $180.
  3. We decided to use the “Lollapalooza” budgeted $150 for “Ace of the Day” prizes. Dave pointed out that we have collected some “non-member” fees.
  4. KEY FINANCIAL POLICIES:
    1. In part, pay-outs will be based on the number of members participating at any one day.  When there are fewer than 4 players, there is no pay-out.  When there are at least 13 players, we will pay 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
    2. League members are encouraged to bring guests.  The standard guest fee for 2016 is $102.  However, on the 2 scheduled GUEST DAYS, that fee will be reduced to $67.
    3. Ladies who are not league members are welcome to play on Wednesdays, however there is a fee of $10 to participate in the game.  This money goes to the MCC ladies league.  Ladies who choose not to pay the fee are not eligible to collect  a prize.  Skins ($5 buy-in) are always  optional for members and non-members.  Skins money goes exclusively to winners.
    4. Chip-ins will continue to be paid at $2 each.  Birdies are not payable (replaced by The Ringer).
    5. Currently, there are no plans to raise additional funds for the ladies league (apart from dues) or to spend money on anything other than golf-event related prizes.

Women’s Day Blog & Communication

Check out the Women’s Day blog if you haven’t done so.  You will find committee minutes, cart ready announcements, results and more.  A link to the blog can also be found on the MCC website under weekly events.
MCC Women’s Day blog address: mcc2016womensdaygolf.blogspot.com
.
A 3rd goal is to operate the Women’s Day program transparently with many
avenues of communication and opportunities for involvement.

  1. Cart Ready announcements are being made each week and posted on the Women’s Day blog along with the results.
  2. A link to Women’s Day Results is being included in the MCC Thursday email blast
  3. Email blast will go out minimally once each month.
  4. Link to minutes from committee meetings are found on the blog.  Last meeting was June 28th, link to minutes.
  5. Please share thoughts and ideas throughout the season with the 2016 Women’s Day Golf Committee:
