New Events

A second goal is the create some new events and excitement about Women’s Day and the many other formal and informal opportunities for women to enjoy golf.
  1. The Ringer:

    1. The Ringer is a season-long game that celebrates each person's best golf performance.  Imagine taking that net eagle you score on hole 16 one week and adding it to a net eagle you score on hole 4 the following week!  In this game, your best net score on each hole during the ladies league season is added together for one awesome final score at the end of August!   We will pay 4 prizes in the game: 1st, 2nd, 20th and 21st.  You don't need to play every week to qualify.  Just play... And know that all your best holes each season will count... At least all the ones you play on ladies day! Dates:  June 1st - August 31st  Dave and staff will be taking care of the recording of scores.
  2. Executive Course

    1. The intent of this event is to play a shortened course, 150 yards. This is similar to the “birdie fest” played by the men. This is still in the planning stages so please give your input to anyone on the Women’s Day Golf Committee.
  3. Ace of the Day

    1. On June 22nd the event will be “Ace of the Day.”  The field will be flighted and the event will be individual net by flight.  We will determine the effectiveness of the event and determine how to approach  August 17th.

  5. Financial Report

    1. MCC Ladies League Financial Report as of May 12, 2016
  • Our balance remaining from 2015 is 905.64
  • We have 41 paid members for 2016, which generates $2,460 in dues
  • Our total available funds are $3,425
  • We have set up a budget for ladies league winnings to be paid over the course of the season.  The breakdown is as follows:
    • Ordinary prize money -- $2,560 (weekly budget is reduced in May and September to reflect fewer golfers)
    • Chip-ins $80
    • Birdies – this will be discontinued in 2016 and replaced with a season-long game called “The Ringer.”  Budgeted prizes for this game are $150
    • o   Lollapalozza prizes $150
These 4 budget components add up to $2,830 – leaving us $370 in the red for 2016.  However, with 2 well-timed rain-outs, we will just about Break even.  If we find in August that we have had no rain-outs, we may decide to reduce price money in August.

KEY FINANCIAL POLICIES:
  1. In part, pay-outs will be based on the number of members participating at any one day.  When there are fewer than 4 players, there is no pay-out.  When there are at least 13 players, we will pay 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
  2. League members are encouraged to bring guests.  The standard guest fee for 2016 is $102.  However, on the 2 scheduled GUEST DAYS, that fee will be reduced to $67.
  3. Ladies who are not league members are welcome to play on Wednesdays, however there is a fee of $10 to participate in the game.  This money goes to the MCC ladies league.  Ladies who choose not to pay the fee are not eligible to collect  a prize.  Skins ($5 buy-in) are always  optional for members and non-members.  Skins money goes exclusively to winners.
  4. Chip-ins will continue to be paid at $2 each.  Birdies are not payable (replaced by The Ringer).
  5. Currently, there are no plans to raise additional funds for the ladies league (apart from dues) or to spend money on anything other than golf-event related prizes.
  1. Communications

A 3rd goal is to operate the Women’s Day program transparently with many
avenues of communication and opportunities for involvement.
    1. Cart Ready announcement will be made each week.
    2. A link to Women’s Day Results will included in the MCC Thursday email blast
    3. A MCC Women’s Day blog has been set up. You may want to bookmark the link or subscribe to the blog. We will post all Women’s Day Committee  minutes and golf ready announcements on the blog.
    4. Email blast will go out minimally once each month.
    5. Please share thoughts and ideas throughout the season with the Women’s Day Golf Committee
VI. Round Robin Match Play event - June 20 & June 27th
    1. The golf shop responded to the feedback from last year and created a new format this year.
The ladies will play a series of Fourball (1 Best of 2) matches against each of the teams competing in the competition, with each match lasting 9 holes. Each player will receive 100% of her course handicap as determined from the current OFFICIAL handicap index. The player with the lowest handicap will play to scratch and the other players will receive the full difference between their respective handicap and the lowest handicapped player. The team that wins the most points will win the overall championship. Find a partner and sign up in the golf shop.
