Business

  1. New committee members were welcomed
  2. Minutes from the August 16th meeting were placed on file. Link to August 16th minutes.
  3. Golf events
    1. There was a general discussion regarding golf events.  Consider flighting the Ringer event based on May handicaps. Change some of the Women’s Day pairings, move some of the fun games to post Ringer, provide Eagle tee options periodically, and consider three somes more often. Continue recognizing birdies. Consider promoting the Executive Course event with all Women golfers especially those who play 9 holes.
The new committee and Dave will tweak the schedule based on this past years experience and feedback from members. Link to 2016 schedule of events
    2. Trunk show update. Dave has a date for next year, 8/30/2016 with vendors beginning to commit. Dave will also send email messages to members when vendors will be dropping in this fall.
    3. Calling all Women Golfers. We will await survey results but in anticipation of a response have identified, June 6th.  Dave will put this on the calendar once confirmed by the committee.
    4. End of Season Celebration - September 14th
      1. We hope to share the survey results.
      2. Dave will pull some highlights from the season to share.
      3. Other announcements
      4. Fun gathering with friends to close out the season
  4. Budget update - Pam reviewed the budget spreadsheet she developed and the process she used throughout the year to manage the weekly payouts in conjunction with Dave.  It was suggested the new committee may want to relook at some of the games and the associated payouts
  5. Survey Update - Pam provided a draft for review. Beth will send on a link in the September email blast.
  6. Women’s Invitational. Elaine Hoth and Lee King asked if we would share a summary of thoughts and ideas related to the Women’s Invitational. Below is a summary of what was shared.  Beth will send to Elaine and Lee.
  • It is important to “show off the club” during this event
  • A theme is nice but not necessary
  • Send the invitations out earlier to guests
  • If there is a theme, it should be identified in the fall and  conversations with the golf pro should begin at that time so work to coordinate prizes can take place over the winter.
  • It is important to include Dave and September in committee meetings and involve them in the planning.  The MCC staff play an important role in supporting the event and providing consistency from year to year.
  • Continue to add to the planning document created by Jana and Patty from the 20015 event and pass that on to the next planning committee.
  • Begin promoting the event early especially with our Women’s Day group.
  • Improve the gift to participants.  There was interest in bringing in a vendor with a certain dollar amount being the gift, allowing participants to pick their own gift.
  1. Women’s Day Committee Charter will be reviewed at the first meeting of the new committee.

  1. Next meeting was set
  2. Meeting was adjourned at 12:30 PM CT

Respectfully Submitted,

Beth A.M. Dailey

To purchase a vanity/cabinet for the comfort station Women’s bathroom. Beth will talk with Duane Foulkes about how best to proceed.

    3. End of Season Survey
There was discussion around sending a survey to members to get their input on several topics such as”
      1. Whether to spend money on a cabinet/vanity in the comfort station women’s bathroom

      3. Whether to pursue some sort of event with the Timber Ridge women’s group
Pam agreed to put the survey together.

  1. Reviewed minutes from the May 18th meeting  were placed on file.
    Link to May 18th minutes.
  2. Budget update - Pam Pound
Pam reviewed where we are at with the budget.  We discussed the payout process with Dave. When we set up the budget for 2017, we need to adjust budgeting based on whether the game is an individual, 2-person team, or 4-person team event.  Dave has stayed within our budget guidelines and adjusted appropriately for the individual events held so far this year.  One day was rained out, saving us $180.
We decided to use the “Lollapalooza” budgeted $150 for “Ace of the Day” prizes.
Dave pointed out that we have collected some “non-member” fees.

  1. Golf events.  2016 Women’s Day Schedule. Link to schedule
    1. Ace of the Day - June 29th.  After much discussion based on feedback, we decided to increase the number of flights and give the event a try. We will play in threesomes.  Diane will look into if and how we will offer Bloody Mary shots at the comfort station.
    2. Executive Course event on July 27th. We have not received much feedback on this event. Dave and his staff will creatively design the course and we will play one best ball of two. 1:00 PM start. Pick your partner.
    3. Calling All MCC Women Golfers 2 - Tuesday, August 30, 2016
It was decided to hold a second Calling All MCC Women Golfers event, Women’s Social, Trunk Sale with On Course Rules Review. It was also decided to move the trunk show to this date as well and add an on course rules clinic.  Becky and Joanie will handle publicity and work with September and Dave on the details.  Beth will include this information with the Cart Ready Announcements, June email blast and also send a Save the Date email to the Women’s Day members and all other MCC women golfers.
    4. Ringer event: Now that we have a few more scores Dave will begin posting where we are at to date. See information in the women’s locker room.
NOTE: The Ringer is a season-long game that celebrates each person's best golf performance.  Imagine taking that net eagle you score on hole 16 one week and adding it to a net eagle you score on hole 4 the following week!  In this game, your best net score on each hole during the ladies league season is added together for one awesome final score at the end of August!   We will pay 4 prizes in the game: 1st, 2nd, 20th and 21st.  You don't need to play every week to qualify.  Just play... And know that all your best holes each season will count... At least all the ones you play on ladies day! Dates:  June 1st - August 31st  Dave and staff will be taking care of the recording of scores.
    5. Other items:  Beth will represent the Women’s Day group on the MCC golf committee for the remainder of this year.
  2. Women’s Day Open Forum - July 13th
    1. We reviewed and revised the Women’s Day Committee Guidelines. Pam will make the adjustments and send to the group for review. Beth will include a link to the draft with the email blast. The guidelines will also be sent prior to the meeting with a reminder.
    2. Agenda is as follows:
      1. Wednesday golf games and schedule
      2. June 7th Calling All Women Golfers event
      3. Communication avenues being used: Cart ready announcements, blog, email blast.
      4. Women’s Day Committee Guidelines
      5. Next steps
  3. New Women Golfer info
Christa Conner sent us the names of 2 new women who have recently joined MCC. Diane Auler contacted them by phone inviting them to play on Wednesday.  Diane also shared other opportunities to play.
Beth will ask the MCC Membership Committee if they might help us develop a short promotional piece about opportunities to play golf for women.  This could be distributed to new members.
We have had a few women join us on Wednesday who are not Women’s Day members.
  4. Communication

    1. 2016 Women’s Day Schedule. Link to schedule
      1. Ringer event:
Pam drafted this description of the event.
The Ringer is a season-long game that celebrates each person's best golf performance. Dates:  June 1st - August 31st  Dave and staff will be taking care of the recording of scores.
The description will be included in the 1st email blast and described during cart ready during the next few league days
      2. Executive Course event on July 27th.  The intent of this event is to play a shortened course, 150 yards. This is similar to the “birdie fest” played by the men. We will seek feedback from Women’s Day members and then decide how best to proceed.
      3. Ace of the Day was shifted to June 29th.  It was suggested that we make Bloody and Virgin Marys available at the comfort station.
      4. Lollapalooza. It was decided not to use a league day for this event.  THis was based on feedback from league members. The schedule was adjusted.
      5. The finalized schedule will be posted in the locker room.
    2. Lollapalooza - Becky and Joanie
After much discussion we decided to offer a golf and social event for all MCC Women Golfers on Tuesday, June 7th, There will be a golf clinic at 4:00 Pm followed by cocktails and appetizers.  The cost will be $20.00. The Women’s Day Committee will work with September and Christa on publicity and will call the non Women’s Day MCC Women extending a personal invitation.  This is a new idea so we are hoping to attract at least 20 Women’s Day participants and 10 women not involved in league.  We will contact the women who coordinate other opportunities to play golf during the week and ask if they are interested in sharing information about their group and if they are interested in new participants. The goal of this event is to make connections and share information about opportunities to play and learn golf.
    3. Other items:  Beth will ask Diane if she would like to represent the Women’s Day group on the MCC golf committee.
  3. Communication
    1. Input on blog idea.  Link to draft site Beth will post minutes, cart ready announcements, the schedule and other Women’s Day related information so members will have easy access. Members may want to bookmark the link or subscribe to the blog.

    3. Golf ready announcements, begin on May 18th
